Management is a process of directing and organizing resources, such as people, finances, materials and information in order to achieve all the business and organizational goals. According to it, the typical MBA programs aim at the educating and bringing up such specialists, who will effectively help organizations to achieve these goals. As the business spheres are extensively developing and broadening today, the variety of MBA programs and degrees is increasing simultaneously.

Standard MBA degrees are the primary tools today to 1) be hired for one of the best positions in the company, 2) have an opportunity to work for one of the most prestigious companies in the world, 3) extensively advance in your business career.
The standard MBA degrees are achievable through typical MBA programs, which can take either one or two years of studying. Here is the information about the one and two-year general MBA programs at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Certainly, the general MBA programs of other business schools are different from these programs, but the differences are so slight that you can well perceive from here what a general MBA program is.

The two-year program is the largest of Kellogg's standard MBA degrees programs, with nearly a thousand first- and second-year students enrolled. The students attend classes during the fall, winter and spring quarters for two academic years. In summer, they have vacations during which each student pursues an internship. The students complete nine major courses in the fundamental areas of accounting, management and organizations, marketing, finance, decision sciences, management and strategy.

The Kellogg School's One-Year MBA Program, which is necessary to earn standard MBA degrees, was established in the late 1960s'. Today, it is an accelerated program, designed to enable applicants with clear and consistent career goals to return to the work force quickly. The applicants are eligible if they have completed an undergraduate or a graduate course in business.
Each year, approximately seventy to eighty students enter the one-year program in June and conclude fifteen and a half courses. In summer, the one-year students take additional courses, which complement their undergraduate business studies. In September, they join the second-year class and accomplish eleven or more additional courses, which they choose according to their interests and goals. As the one-year students already have business education, they may intend to take the two-year major courses. Therefore, the one-year MBA program allows a student to be free in choosing the additional courses, while completing the requirements for his or her major ones.
The students in the one-year Program are to finish Management of Enterprise and the half-credit Pre-term course, Values and Crisis Decision Making during their first quarter at Kellogg. During the summer period, the students select from courses in finance, economic analysis, statistical decision analysis, managerial decision analysis and operations management.
The program admits both: undergraduate business majors and non-business majors. The one-year MBA program requires that the candidates must have graduated within the last seven years and must have completed accounting and several other courses, including decision sciences, management and organizations, finance, managerial economics, marketing and operations management.
However, the standard MBA degrees do not guarantee the change in your current business position and affairs. The experts' opinions, concerning this point, are contradictable. The career advance depends also on factors, such as age, rank, industry, previous degree and the MBA program you will choose.
